Overview

I contributed to the website of the company where I was interning: a bilingual site for an infrastructure pipe manufacturer, covering the product catalogue, dealer network, certificates and calculation tools. Working inside the team, I saw how a large catalogue gets modelled.

A tool, not a brochure

This site is a working tool rather than a brochure. Most visitors are engineers or dealers arriving for the price list, product dimensions and calculations.

That is why "Price List" sits leftmost in the navigation and is visually emphasised. The corporate pages matter, but not first. Knowing who you are designing for sets the menu order directly.

The calculation tools follow the same logic: visitors do not just take information away, they do part of their job on the site. It was the first time I saw what a corporate site looks like when it is genuinely used.

Catalogue scale

There are a lot of products, and each has its own technical specs, dimension tables and documents. Keeping those as hand-written pages was never going to be sustainable.

The team’s approach was to model content as data and generate pages from it. This was my first encounter with catalogue thinking, and it permanently changed how I structure content in later projects.

The fact that the project pages in this portfolio are generated from a shared data model rather than written one by one is a direct trace of this project.

Working inside a team

On Mir Holding and Mirline I was the only decision maker; here I was not. Contributing meant working inside an existing structure, under rules someone else had set.

Each has its own difficulty. Alone, every decision is yours but so is every mistake; in a team, some decisions are not yours and understanding why they were made that way takes time.
